Currently infected with moontusk fever, contracted during his recent adventures in the Shalanwode, Jan is the recent rescue of the party. He’s the half-elf son of a human weaverwoman and an elven battle captain who died shortly after the Goblin War from an unknown illness. Human and elf couplings are rare but not unheard of in an area that saw the elves and humans working together in Laranyss during the Goblin War.
Jan was raised on the heroic tales of those who fought in the Goblin War. When he speaks about it you get the sense that he wishes he were alive at that time. This is clearly what drives his desire to adventure. When there is a lull in the conversation, Jan is known to ask those present, “Did you ever hear about Linowyn the elven bladesinger and how he slew the goblin Wormtongue and his guard in a tornado of steel?” (or some such other story). When those in company answers expectedly, “No,” he launches into the tale.
